This year our First Class teachers are Ms Moynan ,Ms. Callanan , Ms Lanham, Ms Redmond and Ms. Meade.

Our Learning Support teachers this year are  Ms. Lynam and Ms. Hanafin.

Santa came to visit!

Playball

First Class have started Playball. Playball is a multi-skill programme which follows the progression from basic fundamental sports skills and athletics, to mini games of tennis, hockey, cricket, rugby, football, basketball, and volleyball. All the children had a great time and are looking forward to the next few weeks. The Teachers agree that this is an excellent programme and look forward to picking up a few pointers along the way!!

lift-off-to-literacy-150x150Literacy Lift Off

Literacy Lift Off is an intensive 6 week reading intervention programme run in First Class. Children are tested before and after the programme and evidence has shown a considerable increase in the children’s reading ability after the 6 weeks. The programme runs for an hour 3 times a week typically Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. During this hour there are 4 adults in the room working at the following stations

Literacy-liftoff

  • Phonics
  • Writing
  • Familiar reading
  • New reading

Ms.Callanan’s and Ma. Redmond’s classes will participate in the programme during the months of November and December. Both Ms.Meade and Ms.Moynan’s class will be running the programme in January and February.

Library visits

All classes will visit the Library on the first Tuesday of every month (weather permitting). Please ensure that your child brings their library card with them on these visits. All parents are welcome to meet us at the library to assist their child in selecting their reading material.
