Bronze medal winners!

On Wednesday 21st of June the girls’ rounders team travelled to Emo to compete in the finals. It was the hottest day of the year so far, very tough conditions for the girls.

The girls had continued to train hard with the help and encouragement of the boys’ team since their success at the blitz a fortnight ago.

They faced Clonaslee in the semi-final at 10am and after a slow start the girls put in excellent performances. Unfortunately, the girls didn’t make it to the final with Clonaslee winning by only one run. A tough defeat to take but as usual the girls worked fantastically as a team, constantly encouraging and helping each other.

After lunch, we had the chance to play against Holy Family school who were defeated by Emo in the other semi-final. This was the decider match for the bronze medal and the girls were anxious and determined to win.

The 1st innings was extremely close and the girls were behind but they made an amazing comeback and were thrilled to win and win well, in the end! For the first time, Scoil Bhríde has won a medal for Rounders and we could not be prouder of this achievement!

Well done to Emo who were the overall winners on the day.

Ms. Burke, Ms. Ozenbrook and Mr. Coughlan would like to thank both teams for their hard work and dedication. We thoroughly enjoyed our training sessions, our matches and overall the fun that was had!
