Senior Infants: 22nd June 2020

Hi Mams, Dads, Boys & Girls,

Thank you all for your hard work over the past 3 months. We are so proud of you and all the work you have done at home. We know it hasn’t always been easy but you did your best and that is all that matters! For the last week of ‘school’, we have planned a week of fun. If you had been in school, we would have been having our School Tour, Sports Day and Teddy Bears Picnic. Because we can’t do all these fun things with you this Summer, we planned some fun activities for you to do at home instead. Have a look at the timetable and choose 1 or 2 activities for each day.  We would love you to send us some photos of what you get up to. We might even share some on our website. Have fun and enjoy!

Please ask us any questions and feel free to contact us using the email address below.

Our email is:

  • Please use this to make contact with us if you have any questions or concerns about your child’s work.
  • You can also take photos of your child’s work and send it to us. Please include your child’s name and their teacher’s name on it.
  • You could include this information on the subject line at the top of the email.
  • We will then be able to correct it and give feedback.

We will be answering these emails on a daily basis, so please do not hesitate in contacting us.

Kind regards,

Senior Infants Teachers.

Book and Water Day

Today is about reading for fun. We have shared some great ideas that you can follow or simply read your own books and enjoy!

Here is a list of original fairy tales that you would be familiar with. You can access the story on the sites below or if you have the book at home it would be great to read it yourself! When you are finished reading the book, read the game cards and follow the instructions for that book.

If you would like to share your work we would be delighted to see it.

You could write down your ideas and email them.

Send a video of you saying your version of the end of the story or describing a character or simply just talking about the book. What was your favourite part? Who was your favourite character? etc

Send a picture of you reading the book.

Below are fun ideas of different places you can read. If you would like, move around, read a book in a different place and send us a picture. We would love to see it!

Draw with Rob – This is a fun activity where you can draw different characters from different books. Rob will go through how to draw, step by step. Good Luck!

Hope you have a fun ‘book day’, whether it’s reading books, listening to stories, changing the story to make it your own, drawing characters or acting out the stories. Have loads of fun!

Music Festival Day

The first one is a video from “The Music Show”. It’s all about the beat of the music. It’s fun and tells you what to do on the video. Have fun!

The next video is a clapping game to music. You might find it a bit tricky at the start but the more you practice, the easier it’ll get and the more fun it will be. Good luck! If you have brothers and sisters, you could challenge them to give it a try too!

The next one is a video from “Nick the Music Man”. He is doing some fun music activities with some children in school. You can join in!
If you want to try more over the next few weeks, Nick has lots more videos on YouTube.

This is a long video but has lots of fun music activities, if you are looking for more to do once you are finished the others.

STEM and Bake Day

Sports Day

It is such a pity that we are unable to do our Sports Day together this year. However, we have put together some videos and ideas that you could try out and have your own Virtual Sports Day at home. You don’t need any fancy equipment, just use whatever is available at home and get creative. We hope you have lots of fun trying out some of the activities and we would absolutely love to see some videos and photos of how you get on! Please email your Sports Day activities to
Stay safe, keep active and have fun!

Gardening Day

There are lots of different birds that live in Ireland.

How many different birds can you see in your garden?  Use the poster to help you.

Colour Bingo

Print out a bingo card or make your own.

Can you find an item for each colour in your garden?

Nature Art

Collect some leaves, twigs, petals, stones etc.

Can you arrange them to make a picture?

There are some examples on the left.

Make a Bug Hotel

Use and old plastic bottle or tin can and some sticks to make a simple insect hotel for your garden.

Keep an eye on it over the next few weeks and see if any insects move in!

School Tour Day

We are now allowed to travel anywhere within Co. Laois. Pick 1 place that you might like to visit.  Take some photos of your visit or draw a picture of your favourite part of the day out.  All of the sites in Laois can be found using Google Maps!

If you cannot go on a day out in Co.Laois, why not try the Dublin Zoo virtual tour below. Click on the picture to take you on Dublin Zoo’s African Adventurer School Tour, underneath are some worksheets the children could complete once finished.
