Boys Football 2014 -2015

The boy’s team is competing in Roinn 5 of the Cumann na mBunscol leagues this year. To date the team have played two matches.

Tuesday 9th September

Rosenalis 4-04

Scoil Bhride 9 – 11

The team put in an impressive performance against a good Rosenalis team. All the players worked really hard and played some very good football. Martin McDonagh was impressive in goals while in defence Sam Birrane and Daniel Ojejimi stood out. Daniel Philips and Washington Hamisi dominated in midfield. In attack, Byron Sage, Michael Sangolana and Dylan Peters all played well. At the end we played an extra ten minutes to give all the players on the panel a game. Many of our younger players performed very well.

Tuesday 16th September

Scoil Bhride 8- 05

Timahoe 5- 05

In our first home game we played against Timahoe. Like the first game, the team dominated from the start and were in control of the game all the way through. It was a very good team performance with the defence working well and our midfield linking play well with the forwards. In attack, all our starting players contributed on the scoreboard.

Ladies Football

A massive congratulations to all the girls from fourth to sixth class who were part of the ladies football panel for 2013. Our team were competing in the division 4 of the Cumann na mBunscoil competition since September. We played a total of five matches on a league basis.

We got off to a winning start in early September when we beat Ballyfin on our home ground. The other teams we met along the way proved to be very difficult opponents, as they had a lot of experience with the girls playing for club teams also.

However, our girls showed great spirit and put in five excellent performances. It was great to see how much improvement a lot of girls made from the start of the year, especially those who never played before. They always put in a great effort at training, and the team shared a great bond.

We qualified through to the play offs which was held in Mountmellick on 14th October against Ballyfin. Our girls played out of their skins, in a closely contested game. Ballyfin won by a single point in the end.  Well done to the girls who showed a ‘never say die’ attitude, and who displayed a great game of football.

Every girl on the panel should be extremely proud of themselves, as they showed a fantastic attitude, determination and enthusiasm at both training and games. They should continue to train, improve and get involved at club level also. Best of the luck in your future sporting careers girls!
