Mini beast trail!
October’s strand in science was ‘Minibeasts’ and we really enjoyed learning about these interesting creatures!
We got to know about the different types of mini beasts e.g. arachnids, diplopods etc, their habitats, and characteristics. Each fourth class took part in a mini beast trail around the school grounds.
We set off together and went to two parts of the school in the hope of finding some creepy-crawlies! We had plastic containers to hold our mini beasts in.
Each class had great luck and we all found lots of creepy, and interesting mini-beasts including centipedes, millipedes, spiders, woodlouse, ants, caterpillar, slugs, snails, earwigs and lots of worms!
After the trail, we completed our mini trail sheets in groups, where we matched our mini beasts to the different types, and described the habitat where we found the mini beasts. It really helped us learn a lot and it was great finding and identifying them
We found a lot of mini-beasts!
We had to search hard!
