Our Science Experiment on Magnets!
Last week, the fourth classes learned a lot about magnets and we carried out experiments on this topic. Each child had to find objects around the room, and in our ‘magnetism’ box. We used a range of objects including nails, the sink, the whiteboard, pieces of wood, money, thumbtacks, tables etc.
We then had to predict if we thought they would be magnetic or not. Once we filled in our prediction sheet, we tested all of the objects using bar magnets in pairs and recorded our results. We had great fun, and were surprised at some objects after sharing our results with each other!
Here we are busy testing objects…

We also carried out four fun and interesting experiments after this.
The first experiment was to see if magnetism would work through water using a paper clip and a cup of water.
We did the ‘Indian Rope’ experiment, and carried out another experiment using a car and bar magnet to see if it attracted or repelled.
The last experiment was to see if magnetism worked through materials, and we tested cardboard and plastic.
