Write a Book Competition
At the beginning of March each fourth class started preparing to enter the ‘Write a Book Competition 2014. A large number of schools from all over Ireland enter this exciting competition, which involves each student composing their own, creative piece of writing through a wide variety of forms.
Our fourth classes came up with some imaginative stories, delicious recipe books, exciting comic strips, creative poetry and interesting non-fiction books to name but a few.
We began the first stage of the Write a Book competition with a brainstorm about what form of writing we may choose. We then went on to plan or research our topic, which led us on to our first draft. After editing our drafts carefully, we wrote our final draft. We then studied numerous book covers and learned what makes a cover eye-catching and effective. We created our own covers for our piece of writing.
These books been sent to another school to be marked. We are looking forward to reading other books from different schools in our area.
We worked very hard on this pieces, and are extremely proud of what we all achieved – our very own books! We discovered there are many budding authors among us. Watch this space…
Here is each class with our books!
