Write a Book Competition
In March all fourth classes participated in the ‘Write a Book Competition’.
What is it?
The Write a Book Project enables primary school children to become real authors as they create their own books by actively engaging in the processes of writing, composing, constructing, designing, illustrating and presenting their work to a wide audience.
When did it start?
The Write a Book Project has been running from the Blackrock Education Centre since 1985.
What kind of books can be created?
Books of all types have been created by our fourth classes. Books in all the genres of writing have been included
- story books
- poetry books
- picture books
- comic books
- recipe books
- information books
- diaries
- travel books
The children worked extremely hard during each stage of the Write a Book process – planning, first draft, editing, final draft, and creating their individual covers. The books have been sent to another school to be judged.
We also enjoyed reading books from other schools. It was great to see how creative other children were, and to get a chance to read other children’s work.
Well done to each child who participated, and we discovered we have many aspiring, young authors. Watch this space!
Here we are with our very own books!
