Starting TSI in 5th Class
5th class have started doing TSI for English. TSI stands for Transactional Strategy Instruction.
Basically, TSI is a way of reading where children will swap information, use their reading strategies that they have learned throughout the year and teach each other!
TSI is independent work where the children are trusted to work together in their own groups. Children know what to do and will need little direction. Children will keep track of their own learning and each group will work at their own pace.
Each day the children will have a role in their group as a leader, predictor or a questioner (if you ask your child they will explain each role for you!) and these roles are changed daily so everyone gets a turn!
TSI has been very successful so far with and we hope to see the children getting through plenty of novels!
