School Garden

Its the time of the year again for the cleaning up and preparing of our school garden for the new growing season. Bilko and Thomas have been putting in a huge effort to clear the weeds and cut back our fruit trees and give the place a general tidy up. Thank you very much guys!

Over the next week, Mr. Monaghans 5th class will start to sow some early potatoes and a range of other vegetables like carrots, parsnips, onions, cauliflower and cabbage to start with.  Our 5 year old apple tree has really taken off too so we are expecting lots of apples this year as last year was the first time the tree had produced any apples at all!

Here are some pictures to show the preparing of the garden area….. and we will keep you posted on the developments on a weekly basis to show you all how much we are learning about growing our own food.
