A Trip to the Park!

On Wednesday the 26th of October Ms. J. Carroll’s 3rd Class and some children from the other 3rd Classes paid a visit to the town park, Pairc an Phobail.

More than 20 parks around Ireland have been awarded a Green Flag and we are delighted to say our town park was one of the lucky ones.  We went down to watch the Green Flag being raised.

Before we watched the flag raising ceremony we were lucky to have a Biodiversity workshop with Ricky Whelan, an expert on birds.  We spoke about different habitats in the park.  We went on a hunt around the park looking for items of different colours.  We also played a game of Nature Bingo.

During the activities we saw beautiful autumn leaves, trees, flowers, conkers, pine cones, berries and wild mushrooms.  We saw ducks enjoying the lake and dogs enjoying a morning walk with their owners.  We also found worms, spiders, woodlice and many more little creatures.

We really enjoyed our morning down in the park!
