Bike Week
We recently celebrated National Bike Week at school! As part of our work towards achieving the Green Flag for Global Citizenship – Travel, it was a wonderful opportunity to recognise the fantastic efforts made by pupils over the past few years to travel to school in a more sustainable way.
The bike shelters were full all week, which was fantastic to see. On Friday 15th May, we held a colourful bike parade and children were encouraged to “bling” their bikes. We were amazed by the huge number of decorated bikes that arrived at school that morning!
Three parades took place throughout the day, with the entire school coming out to cheer on pupils from Junior Infants right up to 6th Class as they proudly showed off their cycling skills. The Green Team did an outstanding job organising the cycling route, as well as encouraging and supervising the cyclists throughout the event.
A special thank you goes to Mr. Fennell, who added to the fun by dressing up as a cow and cycling alongside the children! As a well-earned treat, everyone enjoyed a visit from an ice-cream van afterwards.
Finally, a huge thank you to all the parents for the wonderful effort made in helping the children prepare for the bike parade. Your support helped make the day such a memorable success!
